I am an economist at the Economics Department, FSS, University of Southampton, affiliated to the ESRC Centre for Population Change, ILB (France) and CFS (U. of Wisconsin-Madison, US). My research builds on decision under uncertainty as applied to firms (international trade), households (expectations, information, household finance, social interactions) and to systems of interacting agents (learning in macro-finance, machine learning, migration, populism). Biography
I received a PhD in 2005 from EHESS, Paris School of Economics (PSE, France), funded by 'La Caixa' and the Bank of Spain. I conduct research in the economics of decision making under uncertainty as applied to international economics (firms), households (finances: expectations, information and social interactions/networks; migration; populism) and self-referential systems of interacting agents (learning, macroeconomics, machine learning). My research has attracted funding from the ESRC (RES-061-25-0327), NORFACE, INET (“International Network on Expectational Coordination”, College de France) or the Institut Europlace de Finance (Paris). My joint work on how firms enter foreign markets was awarded the Chair Jacquemin award for the 'best paper on Heterogeneous Firms and Trade Policy' at the European Trade Study Group's 2009 annual meeting. My research supervisees have been awarded Royal Economic Society junior fellowships or Presidential Awards. I have visited the Economics Department at New York University (USA) in 2006, University College London in 2010 and 2013, the University of Cambridge in 2012, 2014, 2017 and 2022, or the University of Nottingham in 2020.
