- Groups with Eilenberg–Mac Lane spaces of finite type, their structure and their classifying spaces for proper actions.

- The application of Clausen–Scholze Condensed Maths to the study of Galois Cohomology.
Current research
Professor Kropholler's main research interests revolve around the interaction between algebraic topology and geometric group theory. His contributions include several important theorems conjectures in group cohomology concerning splittings of groups, hierarchically decomposable groups and classifying spaces for groups.

Biography
Professor Kropholler joined the University of Southampton in January 2013 as Professor of Mathematics. In his early career he studied at the University of Cambridge where he obtained his PhD under the supervision of John S. Wilson in 1984 and he continued a path that included both the Universities of London and Glasgow.
