About
Phil has worked as a Statistician/Statistical Geneticist at the MRC Lifecourse Epidemiology Centre since 2013. He studied (BSc) Mathematics and (MSc) Masters in Statistics with Applications in Medicine at the University of Southampton.
His research interests focus on the involvement of epigenetic/genetic effects in the developmental origins of health and disease, and more broadly in applying statistical/bioinformatic approaches to understand how early environmental influences affect risk of disease in later life.
His role involves lecturing on MSc module Statistical Genetics, supervision of dissertation projects, presenting work at international conferences, and providing statistical consultancy sessions within the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Teaching
Phil has been lecturing on and co-leading the Statistical Genetics module (MATH6068) since 2014-15 academic year. He has successfully (co-)supervised five summer dissertation projects for masters students studying a statistical discipline. Phil offers statistical consultancy sessions for BM5 students within the Faculty of Medicine and for students on multiple MSc courses, and has contributed to lecturing for Research Skills in Biomedical Sciences.
