Dr Melanie Hodgkinson is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist working full time on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Melanie trained to be a Clinical Psychologist at the University of Hertfordshire, qualifying in 2011. She has a keen interest in Systemic ways of working and has undertaken further Post Graduate training in this area at the Tavistock Centre.
Melanie has 17 years experience of working with adults with Intellectual Disabilities and Autism within the NHS and third sector organisations, along side working on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology as the Intellectual Disabilities Module Lead for the past since 2015.
Melanie is the Director of Admissions and Experts by Experience as well as holding several other roles on the Clinical Psychology training Programme, including Intellectual Disabilities Lead, Accessibility, Personal & Clinical Tutor and Research supervisor.
Melanie predominantly uses Qualitative methods of enquiry and is passionate about the value this type of research holds. Melanie holds key interests in having the lived experiences of people heard within research, as well as using the principles of co-production throughout the research process. Key research interests include; Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, Suicide Bereavement, DClin Selection processes.
