Dr. Abiodun Komolafe holds the position of Senior Research Fellow within the Smart Electronics Materials and Systems Group at the University of Southampton's School of Electronics and Computer Science.
He obtained his BSc in Physics from the University of Ibadan in 2007, followed by an MSc in MicroElectroMechanical Systems (MEMS) with distinction in 2011, and later earned his doctoral degree in 2016, both from the University of Southampton.
Abiodun's research primarily centers on advancing flexible and printed electronics for use in free-form and flexible systems or structures across diverse industries. This involves:
Development of electronic textiles for on-body and biomedical applications, including wearable sensor systems like temperature and ECG monitoring.
Reliability engineering of flexible electronics to augment lifetime and performance under various stress conditions. Presently, he contributes to an IPC committee dedicated to establishing reliability and quality standards for electronic textiles.
His current research delves into harnessing the potential of 2D materials for thermoelectric energy harvesting on the body and other surfaces.
