Dr Sian Williamson is a Research Fellow, currently working in the area of Mental Health within the Department of Medicine at the University of Southampton. Sian is currently working on the 4D-UK project, to develop an inclusive approach to multidimensional assessment of people with mental health symptoms in people in UK primary care.
Her previous research has spanned a wide range of topics including reducing food cravings using mindfulness techniques, calorie labelling of alcoholic beverages, communication of benign breast cancer results and reducing common respiratory tract infections using nasal sprays, physical activity and stress reduction techniques using a digital intervention.
The main thread that ties together Sian’s research is an interest in evaluating and making recommendations to improve public health concerns.
Sian completed her PhD at the University of Warwick, which focused on the communication methods used to deliver benign biopsy results in breast cancer screening.
