Dr Liang Zhao is an Associate Professor in Law and is a member of China Maritime Law Association and Hong Kong Maritime Law Association. He is the co-author of the book “Maritime Law and Practice in China” published by Informa law from Routledge in 2017. He has written a chapter about ship finance for “Maritime Law and Practice in Hong Kong” published by Sweet & Maxwell Asia in 2015 and 2020 (2nd edition). He has published academic papers in reputable periodicals.
Liang welcomes enquiries from PhD students interested in undertaking research in maritime law, particularly comparative maritime law between English law and civil law; and also those with an interest in commercial law, international trade law, and private international law.

Biography
Liang joined Southampton Law School in January 2020 after having worked at City University of Hong Kong since 2014.
He has taught predominantly Maritime Law, Insurance Law, International Trade Law, Private International Law at City University of Hong Kong and University of Southampton. Liang was a Visiting Scholar of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law in 2008, an Academic Visitor of City Law School of City University London in 2014 and Senior Research Fellow of the Maritime Law Centre of the Faculty of Law of National University of Singapore in 2016 and 2019.
