Davis Laundon is a Research Fellow in Imaging and Evolutionary Biology in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton.
His research applies advanced correlative and multiscale microscopy techniques to comparative placentology. Despite having a conserved function (i.e healthy fetal development), the structures of mammalian placentas are incredibly diverse. This research aims to better understand these structures at the micro- and nanoscale using 3D imaging techniques, such as micro computed tomography (microCT) and volume electron microscopy (vEM).
