About the Imaging and Microscopy Centre

The Imaging and Microscopy Centre is a core facility for advanced life sciences imaging at Southampton University.

We cater for a broad range of research requirements, from internal university users to industry and other institutions.

Facilities and equipment

Types of equipment provided by the IMC:

We provide image analysis software for 2D and 3D datasets. You can book our equipment, big-data handling, image analysis and training. We can also supply quotations and assistance for grant applications.

Expert team

We organise seminars and workshops free-of-charge for all users of facility equipment.
We can also arrange one-to-one or group training in experimental design for any technique.

Mariana Vargas-Caballero is an expert in electrophysiology (patch clamp and field recording), and will train users and assist with experimental design.

Mark Willett is an expert in all forms of fluorescence imaging and can offer support with training and experimental design.

The facility works in close collaboration with the Photonics lab headed by Prof Sumeet Mahajan.
