Global Legal Clinic Partnerships
Hodge Jones and Allan Solicitors
The Clinic is proud to be sponsored and partnered with Hodge Jones & Allen Solicitors to offer a Personal Injury Clinic and a Family Case Clinic. Student advisor, you would work closely with our sponsors, arranging meetings and dealing with client queries. HJA members are esteemed lawyers, who give up their time to sit in on client meetings with our advisers, overseeing and ensuring the smooth sailing of client care.
Southampton Advice and Representation Centre (SARC)
The Clinic is one of the contacts that SARC can utilise for signposting their client queries, for any clients requiring specific or more detailed legal assistance. In addition, we launched the SARC Internship whereby the Clinic interviewed clinic student applicants and accepted six students. The 6 students underwent training and went on to volunteer with SARC.
Environmental Law Foundation (ELF)
Our partnership with the Environmental Law Foundation gives our student advisors the chance to conduct in-depth empirical research as part of the policy clinic network at ELF.
A-Law
A-Law have provided our students with some incredible opportunities, such as sitting in on a UK Centre for Animals' debate in Scotland, focusing on dog abductions. Advisors have been given the opportunity through A-Law to hear from individuals around Europe and develop knowledge outside their studies.
Citizens Advice Southampton (CAS)
We work closely with Citizens Advice Southampton, assisting clients who are in need of legal assistance. In September of 2024, eight Clinic students began training with the CAS to become Gateway Assessors and go on to volunteer their time. In addition, four Clinic students worked with the CAS to produce informational videos for clients on varying subjects.
Yellow Door
The Clinic is one of the contacts that Yellow Door can utilise for signposting their client queries, for any clients requiring specific or more detailed legal assistance.
Junior Lawyers Against Poverty (JLAP)
The Clinic has undertaken many tasks with JLAP, for example we have partnered with Clinique Juridique de Montpellier in a virtual student exchange, with three of our clinic students working on Montpellier’s cases and vice versa. We are working on a document for the University to assist with Social Mobility. We have several students researching for LAP Women’s Rights Group project with The Marylebone Project.
Global Pro Bono Bar Assocation (GPBBA) - Group Projects
Clinic students have had the opportunity to collaborate on research pertaining to various GPBBA projects such as global public interest lawyering. Working in three groups on three important research projects, they have attended weekly meetings with their GPBB project leaders, researched and then presented their findings to their leads.
