Life Sciences at Southampton breaks the traditional mould of solving problems within the confines of a discipline. We have an established reputation for working collaboratively, taking disruptive approaches and risk through interdisciplinary team science.
We build connected networks with interdisciplinary collaborations at the heart of the Life Sciences community.
How we work
We do this by helping researchers from a range of disciplines work together to broaden scientific opportunities and address key issues in health, society, and enterprise, aligned with the University’s triple helix strategy.
We focus on four areas of excellence at Southampton: the challenge themes of Health and Medicine, and Living Systems, supported by the cross-cutting themes Disruptive Life Technologies and Insights through Data, which provide the advanced tools to drive our understanding at the frontiers.
Please read our latest IfLS annual report for high impact case studies of interdisciplinary Life Sciences research.
Networking opportunities
We encourage our researchers to connect and collaborate through a varied programme of conferences, seminars, workshops, and poster sessions to explore novel interdisciplinary approaches to research areas.
We provide networking and seed funding opportunities for researchers to explore novel approaches to existing research and cross pollinate ideas.
