About this course

Sustainability reporting is the practice of an organisation reporting publicly on its economic, environmental, and social impacts, and contributions towards the goal of sustainable development. Impacts and contributions can be either positive or negative.

By preparing a sustainability report, your organisation can demonstrate its commitment to sustainability and provide a comprehensive overview of its sustainability progress and performance. 

A sustainability report will allow your organisation to track:

  • how it measures against stated goals
  • identify areas of potential improvement
  • build trust with your stakeholders

This course will equip you with a greater understanding of sustainability and its three pillars, economic, environmental and social, along with practical skills. These will help you prepare your organisation’s sustainability report following the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) framework.

  • Sustainability reporting frameworks - Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), The European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG), The International Integrated Council (IIRC), The Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), The International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB). 
  • Nature of GRI sustainability standards - terminology and structure. 
  • Preparing your sustainability report in accordance with GRI standards- GR1 – Foundations 2021.
  • Preparing your sustainability report in accordance with GRI standards- GR1 – Foundations 202 - GRI 2 – General Disclosures 2021.
  • Determining your organisation’s material topics.
  • Practical aspects of preparing a sustainability report.

At the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • understand the importance of sustainability reporting to compacting global warming
  • identify and distinguish the major frameworks that can be used to prepare sustainability reports, such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), The European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG), The International Integrated Council (IIRC), The Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), The International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB)
  • determine your organisation’s material impacts on the economy, environment, and people, including their human rights
