About this course

Through this MA Luxury Brand Management course, you’ll get an introduction to the luxury industry and develop specialist skills and expertise. 

This course covers key principles and practices within a luxury context, including:

  • business strategy
  • the consumption of luxury
  • marketing principles
  • professional and leadership skills

Throughout the academic year, you’ll have the opportunity to visit key luxury brands for private talks. You’ll additionally get to work on a consultancy project with a real luxury brand to gain experience working on live issues and briefs. 

You’ll explore the design and creative agendas of luxury brands and critique the meaning behind the signs and symbols of luxury. Studying this degree will also build your knowledge of:

  • contemporary issues in the luxury sector
  • luxury as an evolving idea
  • strategic luxury marketing and management
  • the history of luxury

In addition, you’ll learn how to apply a range of research methods to your field and use a variety of digital tools.

Course lead

Dr Debbie Coney Pinder has held senior global marketing positions for international luxury brands, such as De Beers, Jo Malone, Coty, Clarins, L’Oreal. She continues to advise luxury brands on global strategy as a consultant. Her research covers the luxury consumer, luxury in the airport, sustainability and innovation in luxury. Debbie has been awarded the Vice-Chancellors award for outstanding teaching.

Our academics are also members of the prestigious Winchester Luxury Research Group, a hub for world-leading research into a range of luxury-related areas.
